Survey Design

Feedback forms. Polls. Annual reviews. Onboarding forms. Market research. Surveys to collect data for a study. If you’re asking questions in any way, shape, or form — Whether you are a school, a solopreneur, a non-profit, or a Fortune 500 company — if you are asking questions to collect information, let’s collab.

Surveys are my favorite tool for collecting information from people. The insights you can gain from them are powerful. They can be a quick and systematic way to get a lot (or a little) information from many (or few) people.

But, the quality of the information you get is only as good as the quality of the questions you ask.

  • You have designed a survey, quiz, or feedback form that you are using to collect information for your organization or business. You want to ask questions that are easy and stress-free for your clients to answer. And, you also want to get information that is quickly and easily usable for you.

You’ll want a Questionnaire Makeover. You’ll walk away with a real-time review of your questions (up to 10) via Loom and recommendations for improvement. There's an art and science to writing good questions. Let me review your current questions and give you simple, easy-to-implement tips to make them better.

  • For longer surveys, I offer Survey Optimization. I’ll provide detailed written feedback and recommendations on EVERY aspect of your survey draft. You get multiple rounds of revisions and updates to the survey taking into account feedback from you/your team

Includes up to 10 hours (total) of virtual meetings to discuss potential revisions.

I designed my first survey back in 2013. It was a teacher survey for a randomized control trial of a new math intervention in a major U.S. City. After that, I’d go on to lead the design of the School District of Philadelphia’s annual surveys for school leaders, teachers, students, and families. I’ve led the design of school leader, teacher, coach, and student surveys for a national Bill & Melinda Gates study of professional learning and I’ve also helped schools, small businesses, and non-profits create surveys that would launch on a much smaller scale. For fun, I do “question makeovers” on TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube.

Ya’ll what I’m saying is: I love surveys.

If you are wondering…

  • Am I asking the right questions (aka questions that are getting me the information I want or need)?

  • Do my questions make sense to the people answering them?

  • Am I asking questions in a way that is ethical?

  • Am I choosing the question type best suited for what I want to know? (e.g., multiple-choice, open-ended, a rating scale)

I’m your girl. When I tackle surveys, in the words of Cake, I’m “fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack.” Instructions, confidentiality, question type, answer categories, the language of questions, the content of questions, survey flow, survey logic — I vet it all.
